Children
Children are the majority of the clients living at MICAH House, and the programs offered reflect the dedication and care provided to our most vulnerable guests. Staff members provide opportunities, memorable experiences, and resources for families and children to succeed.
Girl scouts troop
MICAH House’s Girl Scouts troop provides an opportunity for school-age girls living at the homeless shelter to be involved in the program. Unlike many traditional troops, our meetings are held where the girls eat, sleep and live! We are offering a life-changing experience to help girls gain confidence, practice leadership skills, and learn life skills such as goal setting and money management!
ages & stages
Children are assessed with the Ages & Stages Questionnaire upon moving into MICAH House. ASQs are the most cost-effective, reliable way to screen young children for developmental delays in the first 5½ years of life and to make appropriate referrals.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Each month, dedicated volunteers make sure every child staying at MICAH House experiences the joy and magic of celebrating their birthday! From cupcakes to presents, everything is provided at no cost to the parents.
Boys & Girls Club
Every child aged 6-18 years old staying at MICAH House receives a free yearly membership to the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands. As a campus partner, this provides a safe and welcoming option for after school and during the summer months.
i-SMILE
The i-smile clinic regularly visits MICAH House to provide fluoride and treatments for children, families, and individuals staying at MICAH House. These services are offered to clients at no-cost.
